We attempted posting EVERY SINGLE DAY for a month… and we FAILED.
Edie. One, a digital marketing agency, takes on the challenge of posting on Instagram every day for 31 days.
Here’s why: half way through, we realised we were just creating content to create content, sharing Instagram posts with little value or relevance, all whilst consuming our valuable time.
We realised a daily posting strategy was value-subtracting, not value-adding.
So what’s the lesson?
Instead, we suggest posting minimum three times a week, allowing yourself time to create valuable content and allowing for THINKING TIME (see our previous post). Every day? No way!
Yes, post when you’re inspired and have value to share. The algorithm and your followers will enjoy those pieces of content more.
Good content is likely to attract more views, likes, shares, saves, comments, etc., which is likely to draw even more users to your post.
Yes, consistency matters, but that doesn’t mean posting every single day, at 12:03 on the dot. It means showing up on the app.
Now, of course there are optimal times and days to post, but what matters more is that you’re posting valuable content that’s worth other users’ time AND that you’re engaging with your community (it’s a two-way street).
A profile full of valuable content—one post after the next—will engross your followers and convert users. Poor content will drive users away from your page immediately.
The lesson: don’t waste valuable time on invaluable content.
We test so you don't have to, and so we can apply best practice to our client work.
