You've heard it before: "My carousel went viral." // "Carousels are the new reels." "If you aren't sharing carousels, you're missing out."
But we say otherwise.
Reels, on the other hand? They actually fun and quick to make and they have the potential to consistently reach SO MANY MORE people mostly because:
1. They satisfy our generation’s low attention span and desire for social media stimulation; and
2. Trending audio helps your post reach more peoples’ feeds.
The cool thing is, we’ve actually reduced our posting frequency to 2-3 grid posts per week and we’re still reaching 8,000+ accounts. That's 24 x our following!
That's not to say carousels don't have a place, because they do. They're great for your existing loyal customers/followers.
You can make carousels extra engaging by adding audio and lots of slides with cliffhanger, short text that gets your audience swiping addictively.
BUT WHAT WAS MORE SURPRISING…
Stories work really well for reach too!
Most people think stories are just for close followers and that you shouldn’t focus on stories when your page is still small and growing…
BUT there is so much untapped potential that people just don’t know about!!
SO HERE’S THE JUICE:
When you post stories do these two things:
1. TAG RELEVANT ACCOUNTS IN YOUR STORIES
For example, we went to an artisan bakery over the weekend and tagged their account. They reposted our story and it ended up reaching over 1,000 people!
2. ADD RELEVANT LOCATION TAGS TO YOUR STORIES
You can actually add multiple locations and you’ll get viewers from each location. Be specific with the location (tag streets or buildings, not whole countries) and make sure the locations are relevant to where you would expect to find your target market. Each location tag will perform differently so it’s great to test which location reaches the largest audience for future stories. For example, this summer, Anna was in Greece and consecutively reached 20 to 50 new accounts through location tags.
