Navigating the competitive world of social media can be challenging for startups and small businesses. At Edie. One, we understand these challenges and are here to provide guidance. Here’s how to not just survive, but excel on social media.
1. Be Authentic
Authenticity is key. Share your genuine journey, including the highs and lows, and the unique story of your brand. Authenticity builds trust and deeper connections.
2. Make It Personal
People connect with people, not just logos. Share your team’s stories, personal anecdotes, and behind-the-scenes moments. Let your audience get to know the faces behind the brand.
3. Show Your Face
Regularly posting photos and videos of yourself and your team humanises your brand. A friendly face fosters a stronger bond with your audience.
4. Be Consistent
Consistency is crucial. Whether it’s your posting schedule, brand voice, or visual style, maintaining consistency helps establish a reliable presence that keeps your audience engaged.
5. Keep It Real
Perfection isn’t everything. Share real moments, and don’t be afraid to show imperfections. Authenticity resonates more than overly edited content. Be real and relatable.
Why It Matters
Good content attracts more engagement—views, likes, shares, saves, and comments—which in turn draws even more users to your posts. Consistency doesn’t mean posting every day at a precise time. It means regularly showing up and providing value to your community.
Our Journey
At Edie. One, we took on the challenge of posting every single day for a month (check out our previous blog post). Halfway through, we realised we were creating content just to post something, sharing posts with little value or relevance, and consuming our valuable time. We found that a daily posting strategy was more value-subtracting than value-adding.
The Lesson
Post when you’re inspired and have something valuable to share. We suggest a minimum of three times a week. This allows you to create high-quality content and have time for creative thinking. The algorithm and your followers will appreciate those well-thought-out posts much more.
Engagement Over Quantity
Engage with your community—it’s a two-way street. Valuable content and genuine interactions are more important than the sheer number of posts. Don’t waste valuable time on invaluable content. We test strategies so you don’t have to, applying best practices to our client work.
Digital marketing made simple. Let’s achieve more with less.
